Types of DLSR HD Camera Lenses

The world of professional photography equipment can be confusing. Here’s a quick guide to the different types of DLSR HD camera lenses.

Fixed lens – A fixed lens or fixed focal length lens has a set field of view and can’t be adjusted to produce a wider or narrower angle. A fixed lens has no zoom capability.

Zoom lens – A zoom lens allows you to shoot a range of different focal lengths with the one lens. A zoom lens offers the photographer the flexibility to change perspectives quickly and is useful for shooting weddings or sports where you may not be able to change positions.

Macro lens – A macro lens allows the photographer to shoot at very close range and capture small and detailed objects such as flowers, insects, snowflakes or other aspects of nature. A true macro lens has a fixed focal length and a tripod is required to shoot sharp images.

Tilt shift lens – A tilt shift lens allows you to tilt or shift the lens without moving the camera and is commonly used in architectural photography. It helps to keep lines completely parallel and captures buildings and other landscapes without warping the perspective.
